Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Enters Communities to Provide Healthcare & Other Services to Directly Address Needs
Hospital’s second community healthcare assessment led to a plan to expand access to quality healthcare
(Paramus, NJ) – Paramus, NJ – – Bergen New Bridge Medical Center has established a new line of services through its CareRite Now partnership with Inserra Supermarkets, expanding access to quality healthcare directly in the communities it serves. The plan to establish satellite offices in Bergenfield and Paterson and open the CareRite Now locations was a direct result of the data that was collected during the 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA).
The CHNA led to an implementation strategy that included providing healthcare directly in communities that New Jersey’s largest hospital serves. The newest CareRite Now opened in New Milford today and the Wallington location was the first to open in November 2022. Bergen New Bridge and Inserra Supermarkets plan to open four more locations in 2023 in Hackensack, Hillsdale, Lodi, and Palisades Park.
“The Community Health Needs Assessment gave us a very clear picture of what the healthcare challenges are in Bergen County and emphasized the need to provide access to those who are most in need of our care,” said Deborah Visconi, President & CEO, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “We are committed to breaking down any barriers that stand in the way of our community receiving the healthcare and services they need, when they need them and most importantly, where they need them.”
“Bergen New Bridge and CareRite Now providers will create programs, offer education, and more to improve the quality of life for the members of our community,” said Larry Inserra, Jr., Chairman of the Board & CEO, Inserra Supermarkets. “CareRite Now New Milford will ensure that the community has convenient access to quality healthcare right here in our store.”
“We are so proud that Shoprite is here and with the opening of CareRite Now, quality healthcare will be provided to the residents of our community and the surrounding areas,” said New Milford Mayor Michael Putrino.
Data collected during the CHNA also highlighted the social determinants of health that impact a community’s overall well-being. Social determinants can include access to transportation, safe housing, educational and job opportunities, income, access to nutritious foods and exercise, literacy skills and more.
“The work we’ve done here at Bergen New Bridge has saved the lives of Bergen County residents and at the same time has elevated the health and wellness of those who previously had issues accessing quality healthcare,” said James Tedesco, Bergen County Executive. “Identifying barriers to care is important and we will continue to work on removing these obstacles to bring quality healthcare to all county residents when and where they need it.”
As a direct result of the last CHNA, a Community Health Department was also created, allowing Bergen New Bridge to have a presence at community events around the county and beyond. The Community Health Department has managed vaccinations and COVID-19 testing at the Medical Center and has been at events in nearly all 70 Bergen County municipalities in the last year.
