Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Cuts Ribbon on Skilled Trade Apprenticeship Facility
The Medical Center has partnered with the Bergen County Technical Schools for apprenticeship placements
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center cut the ribbon on its skilled trade apprenticeship facility, celebrating the partnership between the hospital and the Bergen County Technical Schools (BCTS). The Medical Center places students who have completed the relevant coursework through BCTS into apprenticeships with licensed mentors who are plumbers, HVAC technicians, and electricians. The hospital is currently hosting three apprentices.
“Partnerships within the community, like that of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and the Bergen County Technical Schools, play a pivotal role in building pathways to gainful employment New Jersey workers need and create a talent pipeline that positions employers for continual success,” said Robert Asaro-Angelo, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. “New Jersey has made significant investments to support apprenticeship across the state, nearly doubling the number of registered programs and creating equitable opportunities to foster a diverse workforce. The ribbon cutting of this new apprenticeship facility is evidence to the fact that the earn-while-you-learn model is an effective method for developing highly skilled workers in in-demand occupations.”
“This apprenticeship program benefits the students, the Medical Center, and the community as a whole by increasing the number of those trained in skilled labor,” said Deborah Visconi, President & CEO, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “This program aligns with the overall mission and vision of the Medical Center which is to demonstrate national leadership on key issues which includes workforce development not only for medical and allied health positions but in every department.”
“Throughout my tenure as County Executive, my administration has consistently championed initiatives that prioritize efficiency and collaboration,” said James Tedesco, Bergen County Executive. “Today, we celebrate yet another forward-thinking partnership between two jewels in the crown of Bergen County, Bergen New Bridge Medical Center and Bergen County Technical Schools. This new apprenticeship program will not only equip students with valuable skills but also strengthens our community by increasing skilled laborers in critical trades, ultimately building a brighter future for our next generation.”
