Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Psychiatry Residency Program. Reflecting upon 50 years of training excellence was a poignant moment for the graduating class as it held its annual graduation ceremony on Friday, June 24, 2022. The graduating class of 2022 includes Javeria Sahib Din, MD; Rajesh Gaddam, MD; Mehwish Hina, MD; Rachel Kossack Golden, MD; Anita Kulangara, MD; Patrick Oczkos, MD; and Steven Vayalumkal, MD.

“We are proud to be an educational leader, providing a solid and diverse foundation for the future of Psychiatry,” said Deborah Visconi, President and CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “Our Psychiatry Residency Program, celebrating its 50th anniversary, is one of the largest and most well respected in the area. It provides the residents clinical experience in all areas of psychiatry including adult, geriatric, addiction, and child/adolescent areas which helps establish a foundation for future specialization.” Visconi added, “There has never been more of a demand for mental health professionals, and we are dedicated to fulfilling those needs. We congratulate our graduates and wish them success in their future endeavors!”

The Bergen New Bridge Psychiatry Residency Program, led by Dr. Monica Dhingra, is a competitive 32-slot program attracting top interns throughout the country. The program’s educational philosophy is eclectic, with various diagnostic and treatment approaches. The interdisciplinary nature of the clinical department introduces the trainees to a wide range of well-grounded theories and therapies. Under the guidance and supervision of experienced faculty, the residents gain broad clinical expertise in caring for and treating a diverse patient population ranging from children to seniors.
