What Is COVID-19?
COVID-19 is a disease caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2. It can be very contagious and spread quickly.
COVID-19 most often causes breathing problems that can feel like a cold, the flu, or pneumonia. COVID-19 may attack and affect multiple parts of your body. Most people with COVID-19 have mild symptoms, but some become very sick. Some people, including those with minor or no symptoms, may develop Post-COVID Conditions – also called “Long COVID.”
Protecting Yourself
The COVID-19 vaccine creates proteins called antibodies in your immune system to help fight infection and protect you from getting sick in the future. People with antibodies from an infection from the COVID-19 virus can improve their level of protection by getting vaccinated. The COVID-19 shots we offer help protect you from getting sick and help keep you out of the hospital.
Protecting Others
COVID-19 can be extra tough on some people, especially those who are very young, older or pregnant and those with health problems. By getting the COVID-19 shot, you’re looking out for yourself and helping protect these vulnerable groups.
Stopping the Spread
The COVID-19 is very contagious. When you’re sick with COVID-19, you can spread it to others by coughing or sneezing. Even if you feel okay, you might still carry the COVID-19 virus. Getting the COVID-19 shot lowers your chances of catching the virus and passing it to your friends and family.
Stay Up-to-Date
So, get your COVID-19 booster shot to protect yourself, your loved ones, and those around you. It is a wise and caring thing to do for your health and the health of your community.
We recommend the COVID-19 vaccine for most people six (6) months and older.
