Adolescent Services at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is a leading provider of adolescent behavioral healthcare and treatment for substance use disorders. Our team provides inpatient and outpatient care in a welcoming and supportive environment. We collaborate with patients and their families to create tailored treatment plans coordinated with other healthcare professionals.
The Hope & Resiliency Center for Youth offers “step-down” and “step-up” treatment for at-risk adolescents discharged from inpatient care or when outpatient services fall short. Through symptom assessment, individualized planning, and skill development, the center aims to reduce psychiatric issues and enhance adolescents’ functioning at home, school, and in the community.
Adolescents aged 13-17 with a DSM-V diagnosis or behavioral problems can be referred by primary care providers, case managers, school personnel, or community agencies. The evaluation and assessment process includes a thorough evaluation by a licensed psychiatrist focusing on various aspects such as psychiatric challenges, emotional and social adjustment, family functioning, and school performance.
Treatment plans include stabilization, medication management, skill development, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Treatment services include group sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4pm to 7pm and individual and family therapy. The average program length is eight to ten weeks. Our Teen T.H.R.I.V.E. program supports adolescents aged 13–17 who are grappling with substance abuse and addiction. Everyone’s needs are unique, so we offer a continuum of care options, including early intervention, intensive outpatient treatment, and aftercare support. In our approach, we actively involve the patient’s loved ones and collaborate with various community agencies to provide a comprehensive support network.
Moreover, we designed our educational initiatives for teens aged 12–17 to address the risks of vaping. In addition to raising awareness about the dangers of vaping, we provide practical assistance in managing cravings and emphasize the development of healthy coping strategies. These strategies aim to enhance crucial life skills such as communication, sound judgment, and active involvement in school activities.
