Sufian Sorathia, MD, is the Medical Director of Endoscopy and Assistant Medical Director of Ambulatory Care. Board-certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology, Dr. Sorathia brings a wealth of expertise to his role.
Dr. Sorathia graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology and cell science. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. Dr. Sorathia was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society during medical school. Upon completing medical school, he undertook his Internal Medicine residency at Aventura Hospital & Medical Center in Miami, where he was honored with the Outstanding Resident of the Year award from the American College of Physicians – Florida.
Dr. Sorathia discovered his passion for gastroenterology and preventative care during his residency. Subsequently, he pursued his gastroenterology fellowship at Aventura Hospital & Medical Center, where he was appointed Chief Fellow in his final year. Dr. Sorathia has extensive publications, contributing to peer-reviewed journals and presentations at various medical conferences. Additionally, he has been an active participant in multiple hospital leadership committees. He has broad interests in general gastroenterology and hepatology, primarily focusing on preventive colorectal cancer care.
