Research and Other Scholarly Activities

The Research & Education Department in the Behavioral Health Division of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center helps our residents establish the best treatment modalities for the psychiatric care of its patients. The psychiatry residents and medical students in the Research & Education Department conduct pharmaceutical industry-sponsored clinical trials, investigator-initiated clinical research, and independent research projects directed by the Medical Director for Research & Education, Director of Clinical Research, and Senior Psychiatry Resident for Research.

As a requirement of the residency training program, all residents must complete individual or small group research projects. Our residents and medical students receive training on research topics, including good clinical practice (GCP) principles and assistance with their research projects. They have received numerous awards and honors for their research projects presented as poster presentations and published in medical journals. Our local Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and the IRB Committee of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center review and approve all research.
