Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Earns 2022 Leapfrog Top Hospital Award for Outstanding Quality and Safety
Second year in a row the Medical Center has been named a Top Hospital and Top Teaching Hospital
Bergen New Bridge Medical Center was named a Top Hospital and Top Teaching Hospital nationally by The Leapfrog Group because of achievements in patient safety and quality. This is the second year in a row the Medical Center has been recognized with the top rating.
Bergen New Bridge is one of only 115 hospitals nationwide to be recognized as a Leapfrog Top Hospital with only 5% of eligible hospitals earning this prestigious honor.
Last month, Bergen New Bridge earned a coveted ‘A’ safety rating for the second time from The Leapfrog Group, because of its achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and medical error. With the ‘A’ safety rating, New Jersey’s largest hospital – which also is a not-for-profit, safety net facility – qualified for the Top Hospitals distinction and met all criteria to be named a Top Teaching Hospital.
“The care at Bergen New Bridge is among the safest in the nation,” said Bergen New Bridge President and CEO Deborah Visconi. “This designation does more than recognize our team’s commitment to quality - it also reassures the diverse communities we serve that we at Bergen New Bridge are here for them, providing all the care they need in the safest possible environment.”
In October, Visconi celebrated her fifth year leading the transformation of Bergen New Bridge – the rebranded and revitalized not-for-profit safety-net hospital owned by Bergen County and operated through an innovative partnership with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Integrity House, and CarePlus New Jersey, Inc. The impartial Leapfrog assessment is a key quality metric for the Medical Center and those it serves.
“We are honored to recognize Bergen New Bridge Medical Center as a Top Hospital this year,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Bergen New Bridge has demonstrated that they truly put patients first. We congratulate the board, staff, and clinicians whose efforts made this honor possible.”
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must rank top among peers on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses hospital performance on the highest standards for quality and patient safety and achieve top performance in its category.
